Why was AMFADEC formed?
Association of Medical Faculty in Dental Colleges was formed to tackle and highlight the issues being faced by the Medical teaching faculty in Dental Colleges in India.
Some of the main issues are as follows:
-> In the course and curriculum of Dentistry, there are medical subjects which are to be taught by medical faculty who are from medical colleges.
-> The teaching faculty is registered under Medical Council of India/State Medical Council.
-> Recruitment in dental colleges is as per rules and regulations of Medical Council of India (MCI).
-> Subject and content topic, which is taught to Dental students is same as to Medical students.
-> But the work and teaching experience is not registered by Medical Council of India.
All over India, irrespective of Medical or Dental colleges, there is acute shortage of faculty members, a fact which both Medical and Dental council are aware.
But, thousands of medical doctors who are working in different dental colleges, all over India, are suffering silently for a long time.
We appeal to all medical teachers and faculty members working in dental colleges to kindly register themselves with Association of Medical Faculty in Dental Colleges (AMFADEC), to strengthen this forum.
We acknowledge the support of IMA leadership for addressing our grievances with MCI.
